Lasara ISD Grant Students

Lasara Independent School District is proud to highlight the innovative work of its business students who participated in a first-of-its-kind teaching and learning pipeline designed to provide meaningful work-based learning experiences. This opportunity was made possible through a grant initiative in partnership with Communities Foundation of Texas, Educate Texas, and RGV Focus.

Through this program, Lasara ISD business students were given the opportunity to move beyond the classroom and apply their learning in a real-world setting. Working after school alongside Lasara ISD’s outstanding business teacher, Ms. Patterson, students gained hands-on experience in entrepreneurship, collaboration, and strategic planning—key skills essential for future business leaders.

Over the course of several weeks, students worked together to design a comprehensive plan to build and open a café, which will be located in the school library. The project required students to think critically about business operations, customer needs, budgeting, and long-term sustainability. By engaging in this project, students experienced firsthand what it takes to turn an idea into a viable business concept.

This not only strengthened students’ business knowledge, but also encouraged teamwork, leadership, and problem-solving—skills that will benefit them well beyond their high school years. The grant recognized the students’ dedication, commitment, and professionalism throughout the program.

To celebrate their hard work and accomplishments, students received their grant checks last Friday, marking a proud moment for both the participants and the Lasara ISD community. This initiative reflects Lasara ISD’s ongoing commitment to preparing students for future success through innovative programs and meaningful learning opportunities.

Lasara ISD is excited to see the continued growth and looks forward to the positive impact the cafĂ© will have on students, staff, and the school community.
